On the Meaning of Causal Generalizations in Policy-Oriented Social Science

Policy-oriented social science is replete with causal generalizations. Since these claims are blatantly false if interpreted as universally quantified propositions (i.e. as admitting no exceptions), what can they possibly mean? This research project offers tools to systematically investigate the possible meanings of causal generalizations.
