Léon Gatien

Étudiant au baccalauréat en philosophie et éthique appliquée à l'Université de Sherbrooke

Biography

After completing a certificate in psychology, Léon took his academic path in a new direction by beginning a bachelor's degree in philosophy in 2020. Animated by questions of a more ethical and political nature, as well as by a yet unquenched intellectual curiosity, he felt that philosophy was a promising discipline to think in a critical, yet imaginative manner. As of now, his reflexions are centered around decolonial and postcolonial philosophy, social epistemology, animal and environmental ethics, as well as left-wing political movements.

Within the Chair's research team, which Léon is appart of as a research assistant, he has found a space for multidisciplinary work at the intersection of epistemology, psychology, ethics and communication studies. In particular, he is working on credibility attributions that are in play in the interaction between media and readers. He is also an intern at the Science & Technology Ethics Commission.
